About The Position

This part-time classroom floater teacher position involves supporting early childhood education and care programs. The role requires a focus on child development, communication with families and staff, adherence to regulations, and continuous improvement of services. The teacher will assess children's development, plan and implement age-appropriate activities, and provide responsive care to guide children's behavior and engagement. This position is part of a holistic team approach aimed at making children's health better.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ year of work experience in a related job discipline

Responsibilities

  • Work with team to complete clear documentation and written reports for parents, co-workers, and regulatory agents, including daily reports, lesson plans, newsletters, and professional development plans.
  • Use a variety of communication strategies to support constructive relationships by being accessible, approachable, and engaged.
  • Integrate family requests and traditions into the classroom.
  • Provide non-judgmental support for parents and respond quickly to parent concerns.
  • Assess each child's development using progress reports, screening instruments, direct observation, and information from families and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate and communicate assessment information with the classroom team.
  • Link assessment information with success-oriented growth opportunities in all developmental domains.
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with NAEYC code of ethics.
  • Maintain knowledge of and compliance with city and state regulations and accreditation requirements governing early education and care programs.
  • Accurately complete required Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation, follow rules for food service, and attend CACFP training as necessary.
  • Participate in improving organizational performance by recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data, and providing input to department discussions.
  • Work with the classroom lead to maintain budget targets by recommending purchases, staffing structures, and process efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with the team to plan, implement, and communicate age-appropriate activities that facilitate the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of assigned children.
  • Provide responsive, developmentally appropriate care for guiding children's behavior and engagement, such as inquiry, redirection, verbalizing feelings, encouraging problem-solving, and setting consistent limits to help children develop inner control.
  • Maintain and demonstrate high-level knowledge of child development and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide care and supervision of children in a child care or classroom setting.
