About The Position

The Teacher on Assignment works with and supports the Principal and other members of the school administrative team to bring about school and district goals. This role involves a combination of responsibilities focused on school safety, academic support, and administrative assistance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or more advanced degree
  • Three years teaching experience
  • Valid general education or special education teaching certificate through Arizona Department of Education.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card with an IVP number through the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Responsibilities

  • Work in collaboration with site administration, staff, and families to fairly enforce and manage appropriate discipline of student behavior.
  • Support teachers and staff by working with them to appropriately manage student discipline and administer consequences for poor behavior.
  • Work with KUSD transportation and oversee discipline on buses and at bus stops and direct student behavior.
  • Contact and work with parents regarding possible discipline issues.
  • Document discipline and enter into the Synergy program.
  • Develop positive behavior strategies, interventions or plans.
  • Handle duties when administrators are out of the building.
  • Assist site administration with school safety and positive intervention programs.
  • Utilize Student Support Systems (PBIS, Caught Being Good, etc.).
  • Develop Student Behavior plans.
  • Enforce school and classroom rules, procedures, and discipline policies.
  • Participate in efforts to provide school safety (e.g., fire drills, lock-downs, etc.)
  • Work with teachers and provide emotional and educational support (parent meetings, working with difficult students etc.).
  • Support teachers in classroom through modeling, training, and professional development.
  • Work with administration in writing school goals (ALEAT).
  • Collaborate with Reading and Student Achievement Leaders.
  • Assist with Special Education, which may include acting as LEA for IEP meetings, assisting with writing and implementing Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA’s) and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP’s), and developing and implementing 504 plans.
  • Provide additional support if the principal is out of the building.
  • Assist in fundraising and with assemblies.
  • Provide supervision on the playground and in the cafeteria.
  • Assist in providing Professional Development and staff trainings.
  • Attend and support school events outside of the regular school and work day.
  • Work and collaborate with team leads.
  • Create and Implement Positive Behavior Strategies (PBIS).
  • Meet with parents when needed to help with their concerns.
