Teacher of the Blind or Visually Impaired
About The Position
TheraPeds Partners is seeking a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to join a collaborative school team in Dry Ridge, Kentucky for the 2026–2027 academic year. This is a full-time or part-time school-based opportunity available for up to 37.5 hours per week, serving students across Kindergarten through 12th grade. The role involves providing specialized vision services, conducting educational evaluations, developing and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapting instructional strategies, monitoring student achievement, and collaborating with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams. The goal is to foster an encouraging, inclusive learning environment where students can build confidence and reach their educational goals.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters Degree or higher in Special Education
- Certification for Teaching Exceptional Children – Visually Impaired, Grades Primary through 12.
- 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
- Experience working with visually Impaired children
- Organizational and time management skills
- Proficient in use of technology
- Fingerprint background clearance
- Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized vision services that help students fully participate in their educational programs.
- Conduct educational evaluations and use assessment results to guide instructional planning.
- Develop, coordinate, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while managing assigned student caseloads.
- Adapt instructional strategies and accommodations to meet each student's learning needs and promote independence.
- Monitor student achievement, maintain required documentation, and ensure compliance with special education timelines.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, school administrators, and families to create effective support plans.
- Consult with school personnel on instructional modifications, classroom accommodations, and best practices for students with visual impairments.
- Foster an encouraging, inclusive learning environment where students can build confidence and reach their educational goals.
