About The Position

This position is for an English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher within the Paterson Public Schools district. The role requires a candidate who can effectively teach English to non-native speakers, manage a classroom, and utilize various instructional strategies and technologies. Requirements

  • Hold a New Jersey English as a Second Language Certification or Certificate of Eligibility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of teaching English as a second language.
  • Knowledge of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, and classroom management.
  • Knowledge of assessment and data analysis for instructional purposes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
  • Ability to use proper grammar and vocabulary with students, staff, administration, and the community.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
  • Ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, digital technology to augment authentic learning, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Highly motivated result-driven educator.
  • Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
