About The Position

TheraPeds Partners is hiring a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) for a part-time school-based opportunity in San Mateo, California. This itinerant role supports students in grades 9–12 and postsecondary programs across the district during the 2026–2027 school year. The role involves providing specialized support, collaborating with educational teams, participating in student evaluations and IEP meetings, and maintaining accurate documentation. The position offers guaranteed paid hours, ongoing support, and competitive hourly compensation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Valid Georgia certification in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain certification
  • 1+ years of experience in a school setting preferred
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Knowledge of IEP development and special education compliance
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in use of technology
  • Fingerprint background clearance
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents with a demonstrated ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external communications

Responsibilities

  • Deliver specialized instruction that addresses each student's communication, academic, and functional needs.
  • Conduct educational assessments and use evaluation results to guide instructional planning and service recommendations.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) while serving as the case manager for assigned students.
  • Track student progress and modify instructional approaches based on data and ongoing performance.
  • Partner with parents, teachers, therapists, and administrators to provide coordinated support across educational settings.
  • Maintain timely documentation, student records, and compliance with special education requirements.
  • Consult with classroom staff regarding accommodations, instructional strategies, and supports that promote student success.
