About The Position

This position involves guiding the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals in harmony with the district's philosophy. The teacher will establish clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects, communicating them to students. A variety of instructional techniques and media will be employed, consistent with the available resources and student needs. The role requires assessing student accomplishments, providing progress reports, and maintaining accurate records. Additionally, the teacher will diagnose learning disabilities, assist in implementing school policies, and manage classroom behavior. Provision for availability to students and parents outside of instructional hours is expected, as is planning and supervising assignments for teacher aides or volunteers. Attendance at staff meetings and service on committees are also part of the role. The teacher will perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area.

Responsibilities

  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets with the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Prepares for assigned classes, and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Supervises students to protect them from conditions harmful to learning and/or to their mental and/or physical health and/or safety.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis, seeking the assistance of District specialists as required.
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and/or volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluates their job performance.
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Additional Referendum money available for the next two years starting at $7730 for the 26-27 school year; teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.
