About The Position

The Grade School Mentor will mentor the Grades class & Specialty teachers in upholding the principles and practices of Waldorf education. This role involves classroom observations, reviewing lesson plans, holding weekly meetings with mentees, and providing administrative and pedagogical support. The mentor will also attend parent evenings, parent-teacher conferences, and participate in faculty meetings and professional development. This is a part-time position that follows the school calendar, with days and hours determined by the mentees' schedules.

Requirements

8+ years of Waldorf classroom teaching experience (preferred)
Completed Waldorf Teacher Training for Grades 1-8 (preferred)
Ability to conduct regular classroom observations.
Ability to review and provide feedback on lesson plans.
Strong communication and meeting facilitation skills.
Willingness to attend parent evenings and conferences.
Ability to provide administrative and pedagogical support.
Commitment to continuing education in Waldorf pedagogy.

Responsibilities

Mentor first-year HVWS teachers and others through regular classroom observations.
Collect and review main lesson block plans and weekly plans, providing feedback.
Hold weekly meetings with mentees.
Create agenda and lead weekly meetings with grades 1-4 class teachers and grades 5-8 class teachers.
Attend all parent evenings of first-year class teachers and other mentee teachers as needed.
Provide administrative support to class teachers, including assistance with schedules, back-to-school letters, supply orders, and parent communication.
Provide pedagogical resources to teachers.
Attend parent-teacher conferences and other individual parent meetings upon mutual agreement.
Proofread PT conference report forms, mid-year & end-of-year reports.
Participate in all-faculty professional development days.
Attend bi-weekly Faculty Meetings and Grades Meetings, and Specialty Teacher meetings.
Commit to continuing education and reflective improvement in Waldorf pedagogy.
Supervise playground assignments according to job time assignment.
