Under general direction of the building administrator, is responsible for planning, providing, and evaluating varied learning experiences of students in cooperation with other staff members, parents, and the public. The position requires thorough knowledge of subject areas taught, the ability to provide for individual differences in learning needs, and to demonstrate subject mastery. A positive classroom climate based on mutual respect, rapport, fairness, and consistency is expected. The role involves demonstrating competency in instructional skills, evaluating learning in terms of planned goals, and revising instruction as a result of evaluation. The teacher will inform pupils of their progress, interact positively with students, staff, and patrons, and meet classes, render accurate reports, and perform assigned duties punctually. The position requires adaptability to varied situations, demands, and new instructional concepts, and fulfillment of job-related non-teaching duties. Additionally, the teacher will direct student teachers, paraeducators, pupil tutors, and parent volunteers, and handle student discipline and attendant problems. The essential functions are not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary, with the possibility of performing a variety of non-essential functions consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
