About The Position

DYS Teachers can earn from $68,723 - $116,792 depending on education and experience (includes additional 20% supplement) Small class sizes (6-8 students) Students are an average of 16-18 years old Comprehensive paid training will be provided to the selected candidate Intersession leave – 40 days off per year; 186 student days Additional personal and sick leave No study hall/lunch supervisory responsibilities. Requirements

Baccalaureate degree or less; Starting pay $68,723
Baccalaureate degree & 20 additional quarter hrs. but less than master’s degree
Master’s degree
Master’s degree & 30 hrs. of post-graduate study
Applicant must successfully obtain Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.
Criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Completion of a paid, mandatory 6 weeks of training. Week 1 is held at the facility, weeks 2 through 4 are held at DYS Training Academy in Orient, Ohio, Monday through Thursday, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm. (travel, lodging, and meals are provided). Weeks 5 - 6 are on the job training held at the facility.

Responsibilities

Assess educational needs of youth: develop and implement lesson plans to address those needs to include individualized assignments and training
Provide instruction with individual assistance
Counsel students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems
Organize and/or monitor extracurricular activities if assigned
