About The Position

IC Imagine Public Charter School in Asheville, NC is seeking a licensed and dedicated Lower School 2nd grade teacher. The teacher will be responsible for planning and implementing grade-level curriculum aligned with State Standards. This role involves establishing a classroom environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth through engaging experiences. The teacher will build effective rapport with students, motivate them to develop skills and knowledge for a strong learning foundation, and create positive relationships with parents and staff. Salary is based on IC Imagine’s Certified/Licensed Teachers Salary Schedule, which is subject to review based on the state budget.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid North Carolina teaching license
  • Skilled in problem solving and decision making as well as observation, listening, and coaching
  • Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Maintain effective working relationships
  • Possess strong time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload and multitask in a busy environment
  • Proficiency with GSuite

Responsibilities

  • Foster rapport with students to support the development of the classroom community.
  • Promote student learning by providing responsive instruction that makes use of effective communication techniques, instructional strategies that actively engage students in the learning process, and timely, high-quality feedback.
  • Understand the central concepts, tools of inquiry and structures of classroom management and be able to create learning experiences that make the subject matter meaningful to students.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners.
  • Participate in Standard Based Grading practices.
  • Use classroom, school and state data to inform instruction.
  • Manage instructional time and student behavior.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and the community to enhance the learning of students.
  • Use resources necessary to plan, implement, and evaluate instructional practices necessary to follow the guidelines of the NC Standards for all courses taught.
  • Design instruction appropriate for all students that reflects understanding of relevant content and is based on continuous and appropriate assessment.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, support staff and the IC Imagine community to enhance the educational opportunities for all students.
  • Follow the processes laid out in the faculty handbook, respond to emails in a timely manner, keep grades updated weekly, and correspond regularly with families with pertinent information for courses taught.
  • Perform additional duties including, but not limited to supervision during non-instructional time, attending after school events and meetings, participating in enrollment activities leading and during the Open Enrollment period.
  • Adhere to all legal and ethical requirements of the teaching profession and set an example for others to do the same.
