About The Position

The Teacher-Floater position at the South Shore YMCA Early Learning Centers is responsible for the planning, execution and overall operation of a high-quality Early Learning classroom, which will include promoting YMCA core values and encouraging lifelong learning. This position is responsible for providing community leadership for family/child development, leadership collaborations and be able to demonstrate high quality member service to both internal and external program participants, families, members, and volunteers to ensure member involvement, service and retention. Directly supervises program participants, teacher assistants and volunteers in accordance with the organization's policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws and NAEYC criteria. Plans, assigns, and directs staff and volunteer work. Monitors and communicates with supervisor all staff related EEC, NAEYC, and South Shore YMCA requirements. Builds relationships with and among families and members, responds to inquiries and solves problems. Creates a supportive community environment, assists in recruiting and engaging new families, and connects families to the YMCA’s cause.

Requirements

  • Minimum of teacher qualifications from the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC)
  • Knowledge and experience with the Department of Early Education and Care regulations, QRIS Standards and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)
  • The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies
  • Effective teaching skills
  • The ability to implement methods to address and follow up with family needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity

Nice To Haves

  • Completion or in process of attaining a Bachelor’s degree from a community college or university in Early Education, or related field is preferred.
