About The Position

This position is for a Grade 5-8 Science Teacher within the Paterson Public Schools. The role requires a deep understanding of the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS) and the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA). The teacher will be responsible for implementing effective instructional strategies, managing the classroom, assessing student learning, and utilizing data to inform instruction. The position also requires strong communication and computer literacy skills, as well as the ability to foster a positive and respectful learning environment. Requirements

  • Must hold New Jersey Middle School Science or any K-12 science (e.g. biology, chemistry, etc) certificate(s).
  • Knowledge of the NJSLS and NJSLA.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of effective instructional strategies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of classroom management.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of learning assessment and diagnosis.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research related to learning.
  • Ability to analyze and use data to drive instruction.
  • Experience working with students (appropriate grade/age level).
  • Excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
  • Must be a critical thinker, problem solver, and respect others.
  • Must be computer literate and able to use interactive computer instructional software.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, parents, and the community.
