About The Position

Graham and Parks School is a vibrant, multicultural, multilingual learning community located in Cambridge, MA. Graham & Parks School is seeking a talented grade 1 teacher to join our caring and innovative learning community. The successful candidate will have experience planning, implementing, and adapting curriculum based on the Massachusetts State Frameworks and the Common Core. They will set high expectations for all students and utilize scaffolding and differentiation to support students. The teacher will have an appreciation and awareness of the unique developmental needs of young people in this age band. As a professional, the teacher will display a collegial spirit that supports and enhances continual professional growth consistent with the educational goals and philosophies of the Graham & Parks School and be fully committed to continuously learning, improving, reflecting, and working together as a community to ensure that all students achieve at high levels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least two years of full-time classroom instruction
  • Massachusetts State Early Childhood certification is required
  • A strong work ethic, alongside a commitment to doing whatever it takes for students to excel

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience working in an urban educational setting, including the ability to work successfully with students, colleagues, and families from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds, is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with all team members, including but not limited to special educators, instructional coaches, paraprofessionals, interventionists, and other support personnel
  • Incorporate a variety of assessment strategies, including district-wide exams and formative assessment in order to inform instruction and target intervention and enrichment needs
  • Integrating social learning into the classroom will work to foster a safe, caring, and active learning community
  • Partner with families and include them in the students’ learning and development, as well as encourage families to further the mission of the school
  • Build on established partnerships with surrounding community institutions and organizations
