About The Position

This role involves both teaching responsibilities within a core academic subject and coaching the girls basketball program. The position requires a strong understanding of curriculum, instructional strategies, classroom management, and athletic coaching techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing lesson plans, assessing student progress, managing classroom behavior, and directing the girls basketball team, including travel for competitions. Additionally, the role involves professional development, communication with stakeholders, and adherence to district policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of and commitment to company values.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with teachers, students, parents, the community, and administrative staff.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and displays such between all stakeholders: being courteous, professional, and helpful.
  • Possesses excellent communication skills: Oral (including presentations), Written, Interpersonal (active listening), Negotiating and Influencing.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license required.
  • Commercial driver’s license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsements required within six months of start date.
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.
  • Coaching experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Current automated external defibrillator (AED) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program.
  • Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology.
  • Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students.
  • Plan and assign work to instructional aide(s) and volunteer(s) and oversee completion.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
  • Sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
  • Be a positive role model for students; support mission of school district.
  • Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
  • Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Direct, manage, and coach the girls basketball program.
  • Drive bus to transport students to out-of-district competition when necessary.
  • Direct and develop assistant coach(es).
  • All other coaching responsibilities as defined by the Athletic Director.
  • Direct the work of classroom educational aides and assistant coach(es).
