The primary function of a teacher is to deliver the district curriculum in multiple ways that increase student learning and achievement. Teachers are responsible for preparing class objectives and outlines that align with the district-approved curriculum, preparing and analyzing student assessments, and utilizing assessment conclusions in developing lessons. They instruct students on rules of conduct and expected behaviors, manage their classrooms, and identify students with academic issues, referring them to appropriate service providers. Teachers regularly inform parents or guardians of their students' academic performance and behavior, maintain required records, and plan, organize, and deliver differentiated instruction. They provide timely feedback, use techniques to promote critical thinking, strive to maintain a safe learning environment, and communicate effectively with staff and administration. Additionally, teachers assist in enforcing laws and policies, work cooperatively with administration and special education staff, and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and the community. They also assist in protecting students and property and participate in emergency drills and student management. Maintaining personal integrity, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic, along with participating in district professional development, are also key aspects of the role.
