About The Position
The Teacher Fellow is a flexible, campus-based educator who provides classroom coverage when teachers are absent and supports campus-wide duties as assigned. The role serves as a talent pipeline, preparing qualified candidates for future full-time teaching openings within the district. The position is based at a campus, reports to the Principal, is exempt, and is full-time. Work hours are normal work hours over 193 days. The stated annualized pay is $32,424. The fellow delivers instruction using provided lesson plans and learning objectives, manages student behavior and classroom routines, and collaborates with experienced teachers to strengthen instructional planning and classroom practices. Fellows may be called upon to step into full-time teaching roles as openings arise.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required, or the candidate must be actively pursuing a degree.
- Eligible to enroll in a teacher certification program.
- Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral forms with all levels of management, internally and externally to the campus.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships internally and externally to the district.
- Ability to use computers and district software and databases, spreadsheets, word-processing software, a calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
Responsibilities
- Deliver instruction based on provided lesson plans and learning objectives, using appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs.
- Cover classrooms campus-wide when the assigned teacher is absent.
- Manage student behavior and classroom routines.
- Take attendance and complete required documentation.
- Build positive, professional relationships with students, staff, families, and campus leadership.
- Work collaboratively with experienced teachers to strengthen instructional planning and classroom practices.
- Support campus-wide duties as assigned, including duty, lunch, dismissal, and testing.
- Communicate with administration on coverage needs.
- Attend required staff meetings and professional development.
- Step into full-time teaching roles as openings arise.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
