About The Position

This position guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. The teacher employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. The teacher strives to implement, by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. The district has a variety of ESE positions that have varying qualifications. The minimum qualifications for Autism, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, EBD, Gifted, PLA, SLA, Physically Impaired, VE and PreK-Handicapped are a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and no experience required. Salary is based on verified years of teaching experience. Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in the appropriate subject area. The minimum qualifications for the remaining school-based ESE positions are listed below.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • None required for Autism, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, EBD, Gifted, PLA, SLA, Physically Impaired, VE and PreK-Handicapped positions.
  • Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in appropriate subject area.
  • Three (3) years successful teaching or work experience with students on the autism spectrum and/or students with behaviorally complex needs for ESE Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Experience with special education and related services for students with disabilities for ESE Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Board certification as a Behavior Analyst for ESE Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Florida Department of Education teaching certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education, Guidance and Counseling or School Psychology for ESE Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Five (5) years successful classroom teaching experience in exceptional student education or a combination of exceptional/regular education teaching experience for ESE Intervention Representative.
  • Florida Department of Education certification in at least one (1) area of Exceptional Student Education, Administration/Supervision or Educational Leadership for ESE Intervention Representative.
  • Three (3) years experience working with students with disabilities for ESE Lead.
  • Three (3) years experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities/Autism for ESE Site Coach.
  • Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education (for Autism positions, Autism certification or endorsement required) for ESE Site Coach.
  • Certification in one area of a core content area or K-6 Certification for ESE Site Coach.
  • Knowledge of subject content.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Autism Spectrum Disorder Endorsement preferred for ESE Certified Behavior Analyst.
  • Background in behavior management techniques is strongly recommended for ESE Intervention Representative.
