About The Position

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved. Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the District's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives. This role is an Exceptional Student Education (ESE) position. The district has a variety of ESE positions with varying qualifications. This specific role requires experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities/Autism.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years experience working with students with Emotional/Behavioral Disabilities/Autism.
  • Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in at least one area of exceptional student education.
  • Must be eligible for Florida Department of Education Certification in one area of a core content area or K-6 Certification.
  • Knowledge of subject content.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software skills.
  • Ability to plan and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
  • Ability to devote additional hours beyond the workday for grading papers, preparation of lesson plans, etc.
  • Ability to manage students.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • For Autism positions, Autism certification or endorsement required.

Benefits

  • Teacher starting salary is $48,700.
  • Additional Referendum money is available for the next two years starting at $5400 for the 25-26 school year.
  • Teachers hired during the school year will receive a prorated supplement amount based on the date of hire.
