About The Position

The STEM Teacher appropriate grade level standards based curriculum in Reading, Writing, Math, Science, Social Studies and Personal Development to diverse elementary students, following District Literacy Program and Everyday Math or other school/District approved curriculum.

Requirements

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required.
  • A Master's Degree is only required for Concurrent Enrollment positions.
  • Have a valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Teachers License with endorsement in Elementary Education and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education or HOUSSE qualified in elementary education OR qualify for Alternative License and passing score on the PLACE or Praxis II in elementary education.
  • Knowledge with Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices including small group instruction
  • Ability to manage classroom and coordinate and instruct student activities
  • The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance
  • Works effectively as member of multi-disciplinary team
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.

Responsibilities

  • Counsels students to encourage and support student achievement.
  • Monitors, supervises, coordinates, and enforces rule of conduct and behavior of assigned students and reinforces positive student behaviors in accordance with school and District policy.
  • Observes, evaluates, reports, and records student performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
  • Prepares lesson plans and materials according to District approved curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
  • Presents subject matter to students, using various teaching methods and instructional materials to meet varying needs and learning styles.
  • Instructs students individually and in groups using various teaching methods (e.g., lectures, technology, discussions).
  • Establishes and communicates clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects.
  • Prepares, administers, assigns, and grades tests and assignments to evaluate student progress, reporting grades using District software.
  • Prepares student, attendance, and activity reports as required by administrators.
  • Communicates with parents or guardians, teachers, counselors, and administrators to resolve student behavior and academic problems.
  • May participate in extra-duty activities such as coaching, tutoring, or summer programs, as outlined in the Teachers’ Collective Bargaining Agreement and in accordance with Department of Labor regulations.
