About The Position

This position is for a Grade 5 Classroom Teacher at Roosevelt Elementary. The role involves planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities to facilitate active learning experiences. The teacher will create and maintain an environment that fosters student achievement and the development of lifelong skills, while maximizing opportunities for student success through positive working relationships. The teacher will instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, and be proficient in using new technology and various application packages. This role requires being a role model for students in lifelong learning and professional behavior, working collaboratively, and being flexible, resourceful, and innovative in designing and executing learning experiences responsive to student needs. The teacher will observe and evaluate student performance, encourage and monitor individual student progress, and assign and grade work, providing feedback. The position requires the ability to bend, twist, stoop, squat, and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students. The teacher will assume other responsibilities as determined by their supervising administrator and conduct themselves professionally, projecting a positive image of the School District.

Requirements

  • Valid Michigan Teaching certificate with Upper Elementary Endorsement required.
  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
  • Must be Highly Qualified in endorsement area.
  • Must meet certification and endorsement requirements for assignment.
  • Must meet all NCA and Michigan Department of Education requirements.
  • Be proficient in the use of technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Grade level experience preferred.
  • Master’s degree preferred.

  • Observe and evaluate student’s performance and development.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments and provide appropriate feedback on work.
  • Bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students.
  • Assume other responsibilities as determined by their supervising administrator.
  • Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and project a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
