About The Position

This position is for an Elementary Teacher for Grade 1 at Garfield Elementary. The role involves planning, preparing, and delivering instructional activities, creating a positive learning environment, and monitoring student progress. The teacher will be responsible for assigning and grading work, and must be able to assist students, which may involve bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The teacher is expected to act as a role model, work collaboratively, and be flexible and innovative in their approach to education. The position requires adherence to professional conduct and a commitment to representing the School District positively.

Requirements

Valid Michigan Teaching certificate ZC, ZE, ZG, ZO required.
Minimum of a Bachelors Degree.
Must be Highly Qualified in endorsement area.
Must meet certification and endorsement requirements for assignment.
Must meet all NCA and Michigan Department of Education requirements.
Be proficient in the use of technology.

Nice To Haves

Grade level experience preferred.
Master’s degree preferred.

Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments and provide appropriate feedback on work.
Bend, twist, stoop, squat and lift up to 50 pounds in assisting students.
Assume other responsibilities as determined by their supervising administrator.
Conducts himself/herself in a professional manner commensurate with his/her position and project a good public image of the School District in dealing with the community and employee groups.
