About The Position

Colorado Mesa University (CMU) is seeking a Teacher Ed Program Support Coordinator to play a vital role in our mission of providing affordable and accessible education. This position is crucial for supporting our Teacher Education program, ensuring smooth operations, and facilitating student success. The coordinator will manage student records, advise students on program requirements and placements, liaise with school districts, and support faculty. This role involves coordinating admissions, placements, orientations, and colloquia, as well as promoting the program through various outreach activities. The coordinator will also be responsible for data collection and reporting for institutional and state requirements, maintaining program documentation for accreditation, and supervising student workers. Additionally, they will assist in administering grants and scholarships, and manage content for the Teacher Education website.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required.
  • Knowledge of the classroom and/or administration in a K-16 educational environment is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains all teacher education student internship records.
  • Updates essential publications and documents.
  • Advises students on admissions, course sequence, internship placements and procedures.
  • Provides support for teacher education faculty through public relations.
  • Serves as school district liaison.
  • Coordinates colloquia, orientations and CTE presentations.
  • Documents and records data, using a variety of student information database systems to access and process student data for the department.
  • Maintains and provides printed and website materials for accreditation documentation.
  • Coordinates with the graduate coordinators to facilitate graduate admissions and matriculation.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Department Head relating to the Center for Teacher Education.
  • Serves as primary point-of-contact for field placements and graduate program admissions.
  • Coordinates admissions to Teacher Education graduate programs in cooperation with program coordinators, department heads, and the graduate admissions coordinator.
  • Coordinates placement of observation and student teaching placements in cooperation with program coordinators, partner academic departments, and partner school district HR personnel and school principals.
  • Works in coordination with partner school districts throughout the region to recruit observation and student teaching mentors, following individual school districts procedures.
  • Acts as primary point of communication between the Teacher Education program and partner school district placement personnel, mentor teachers, and principals.
  • Advises students on program admission, course sequence, program and licensure requirements, and on program and partner districts’ internship placement and policies.
  • Facilitates implementation of policies, processes, documentation, and the communication thereof, particularly relating to student teaching and graduate admissions, in coordination with program coordinators and department head.
  • Coordinates graduate program orientation, student teaching orientation sessions, and internship colloquium in coordination with faculty.
  • Promotes Teacher Education programs through outreach activities, presentations, and the development of marketing materials in various formats, including print, electronic, social media, and website publications.
  • Collects and maintains data for institutional, interdepartmental, state, and national reporting.
  • Aids in institutional reporting, Title II reporting, first-year teaching and principal survey reporting, and collection of first-year employment information.
  • Remains proactive and follows through on action steps to implement program, institutional, field-site, and state licensure changes.
  • Processes and maintains graduate student records in coordination with graduate admissions, Registrar, and Department Head.
  • Maintains an active role in program review and documentation for evaluation through data collection, reporting, and analysis.
  • Takes an active role in maintaining and evaluating department policy to communicate accurately with students and institutional and regional stakeholders.
  • Supervises the hiring, workflow, and payroll of student worker employees.
  • Facilitates targeted communication and promotion of education-related scholarship opportunities, employment opportunities, and employment fairs.
  • Maintains and creates content and forms for Teacher Education website to promote and disseminate information regarding graduate and undergraduate program application, program requirements, state licensure, employment opportunities, and scholarship information.
  • Serves as point of communication between students and various organizations regarding student teaching scholarships.
  • Works in coordination with the department head, the Office of Sponsored Programs, Accounts Payable, and Financial Aid to administer a variety of teacher education grants and scholarships; recruit and advise eligible students on program requirements; collect and process related documentation; and maintain accurate program data.
