About The Position

Welby Community School of the Arts, PK-6, is an Expeditionary Learning (EL) school that uses the arts to inspire a love for learning and build a solid foundation for future academic success in each child. As part of the EL Education Network, students and teachers are engaged in work that is challenging, adventurous, and meaningful, and students achieve more than they think possible, becoming active contributors to building a better world. At Welby, Colorado Academic standards are enhanced with engaging artistic experiences, and student learning is enriched through visual arts, music, dance, and performing arts. The arts lens at Welby is driven by discovery. Students are supported in their creative adventures by high-quality teachers and encouraged to be curious. Each year, Welby students demonstrate their learning with a unique performance or showcase, including a variety of art (sculptures, 2D), music (Battle of the Bands, concerts), and performances (plays, film festivals), and more.

Requirements

  • Colorado teaching license with an appropriate Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education endorsement required.
  • Applicants need to be highly motivated, flexible, dedicated, and creative to promote a positive climate and culture.
  • Willingness and ability to meet the diverse needs of learners (including special education, at-risk, linguistically, and culturally diverse) by adjusting curriculum and working cooperatively with other staff through inclusion.
  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of early childhood education and developmentally appropriate practices.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of a variety of screening and assessment tools appropriate for young children.
  • Be able to provide individualized instructional support for students.
  • Commitments and competencies in using a variety of instructional deliveries are including, but limited to, cooperative learning, and interdisciplinary instructional thematic units.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to a standards-based system of designing and delivering instruction and assessment.
  • Will demonstrate a willingness to collaborate and solve problems with professional peers.
  • Mandatory Title IX training is required by the Colorado Department of Education and for all public school employees. Title IX training addresses harassment, discrimination, and bullying. Completing these mandatory Title IX training courses ensure we are meeting state requirements while continuing to foster a culture of safety and belonging across our schools. You will have two mandatory training courses that must be completed within 30 days of your date of hire and are required to be completed on your own time.

  • Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct parent teacher conferences, home visits and ongoing communication with parents.
  • Operate as the classroom lead teacher.
  • Be able to lead and supervise one or more paraprofessionals in the classroom.
  • Designs instructional intervention that is clearly focused on the standards and assessments established by the District and the State.
  • Provides expanded opportunities and support for learner success.
  • Aligns all instruction with and designs instructional interventions with State and local standards and assessments.
  • Demonstrate the ability to write and update IEP's.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in evaluation to determine if special education services are needed and understand the Colorado preschool special education laws and regulations.
  • Willingness to participate in mandatory training and staff development/workshops.
