Assist student(s) with a wide variety of needs by providing any combination of individualized academic, behavioral, life skills and/or social-emotional instruction; medical/health care; and student assistance with learning, emotional regulation, and/or relationships. This role involves implementing specialized instruction, accommodations, and routines as outlined by professional staff and/or each child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP), or related Behavior Intervention Plan. The assistant may also assume the role of the teacher during absences and is responsible for preparing the classroom, maintaining files, and communicating with students, families, and staff.
