About The Position

The Mapleton School in Malvern, PA, part of Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health, is seeking Teacher Assistants to provide direct behavioral intervention to students. This role is within an educational environment focused on current behavior interventions and Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), utilizing a strengths-based, multi-disciplinary approach. The school offers a supportive, educational, and clinically focused environment for children functioning at all grade levels, employing a multi-sensory educational strategy that includes traditional instruction, hands-on learning, independent learning, and technology. A key focus is preparing students for transition from school to career. Students may attend as day students or as part of the residential treatment program, with each student having an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) to guide their goals and strategies.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required
Experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities and/or behavior disorders preferred

Responsibilities

Ensure student safety
Assist in establishing classroom environments that are conducive to maximum learning by maintaining structure and guiding students to socially appropriate behaviors
Work with the Special Education Teachers to implement skill acquisition and behavioral reduction programs individually and in small groups
Perform ongoing data collection and record keeping as directed by Special Education Teacher
