About The Position

Chambliss Center for Children is hiring a part-time Teacher Assistant for Little Scholars, a unique early learning center located at Momentum, a nonprofit that supports single mothers pursuing a college education. The mixed-age classroom serves children from infancy through age 3 and up. The role supports children’s care and learning while helping mothers continue their education.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM–2:00 PM. The position has potential to grow into a full-time role. Starting pay is $11, with higher starting pay based on education and experience. Chambliss Center for Children is a nonprofit providing early childhood education, foster care services, and transitional living programs. Requirements

• Prior classroom experience with young children, from infancy through preschool age, in a childcare center, preschool, or similar setting.
• At least 18 years old and have a high school diploma or GED.
• Able to pass a fingerprint-based background check.
• Dependable, caring, and eager to learn.
• Able to work as part of a team with children, families, and coworkers.
• Able to lift infants and toddlers; stand, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor often; and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Help supervise and care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers in a mixed-age classroom.
• Support daily activities, play, and learning experiences.
• Help with meals, bottles, diapering, toileting, naps, and other routine care.
• Keep the classroom clean, organized, and welcoming.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
