About The Position

Newton Child Development Center is seeking a full-time Teacher Assistant to work as a floater. The floater moves between classrooms to provide help where needed, with assignments potentially involving infants, toddlers, or PreK children. Classroom experience is not required, and training will be provided. The role calls for someone caring, patient, kind, dependable, flexible, and willing to work as part of a team. The position is at 1301 Grove Street, Chattanooga, TN 37402. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Starting pay is $13 for candidates with a high school diploma and little experience; higher pay is available based on additional education and experience. Full-time employees receive paid vacation and sick leave, as well as paid holidays. Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Must pass a fingerprint background check.
Must be able to safely move about the classroom throughout the shift, sit on the floor for prolonged periods, and occasionally lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
Caring, patient, kind, dependable, flexible, and able to work well with others.
Classroom experience is not required; training will be provided.

Responsibilities

Help teachers care for and supervise children.
Fill in when a classroom needs extra help or a staff member is absent.
Assist with meals, snacks, naps, and clean-up.
Participate in play, reading, and learning activities.
Keep children safe at all times.
Follow classroom routines and Center policies.
Treat every child and family with kindness and respect.
Move between classrooms as needed, potentially assisting with infants, toddlers, or PreK children.
