About The Position

The Village School is seeking a Teacher Assistant to support the delivery of the early childhood curriculum. This role involves assisting in the planning and implementation of engaging learning experiences, contributing to students' academic, social, and emotional development, and ensuring a safe and supportive classroom environment. The Teacher Assistant will apply various instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs and collaborate with colleagues to promote high-quality teaching and learning. In line with the school's vision, the role supports students in developing foundational understanding and maintaining progress records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least one year of experience working with children
  • Demonstrates understanding of early childhood development and learning practices
  • Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, and communication skills to engage effectively with a diverse community
  • Ability to support student progress through observation, feedback, and record-keeping
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Results-oriented with the ability to align work to defined goals and expectations
  • Commitment to working in a purpose-led educational environment

Responsibilities

  • Support the planning and delivery of the daily instructional program under the direction of the Lead Teacher.
  • Work with individual students, small groups, and whole-class settings to support learning.
  • Assist in monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate student records.
  • Support the social, emotional, and cognitive development of students.
  • Supervise the classroom in the absence of the Lead Teacher.
  • Supervise students in non-classroom settings, including playground and transitions.
  • Assist the Lead Teacher in preparing and delivering lessons that build knowledge and skills in a structured and progressive manner.
  • Support the preparation of instructional materials, learning centers, and classroom displays.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining a positive, organized, and engaging learning environment.
  • Prepare materials and resources required for lessons and activities.
  • Support general classroom organization and housekeeping responsibilities.
  • Maintain professional and respectful working relationships with colleagues.
  • Treat all students with dignity, respect, and care.
  • Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team culture where all members feel supported and valued.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff.
  • Support a positive school culture aligned with the values and mission of the school.
  • Model professionalism in attendance, punctuality, and presentation.
  • Contribute to a shared understanding of learning goals across grade levels.
