About The Position

The Teacher Assistant will support teachers in the instructional process by adapting classroom activities, assisting students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments, and performing general tasks to prepare instructional materials. This role involves monitoring students in various settings to ensure a safe and positive learning environment, maintaining classroom equipment and records, and reporting observations and incidents related to students. The assistant will also attend meetings and professional development to acquire and convey information relevant to job functions and adhere to state regulations, school policies, and safeguarding guidelines. Additionally, the role includes assisting with daily routines such as diaper changing, feeding, and playtime, and advocating for the school's vision, mission, and promises.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • Provision of federal criminal background checks covering the countries that you have lived and worked in for the last 10 years.
  • Drug tested upon hire.
  • Provide I-9 information for E-Verify.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Willingness to undergo appropriate vetting procedures, including an online due diligence search, references, and satisfactory Criminal Background Checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years’ employment history.

Responsibilities

  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials to support and reinforce classroom goals and objectives.
  • Assist with classroom assignments to support teachers in the instructional process.
  • Assist students, individually or in small groups, with lesson assignments to practice and/or reinforce learning concepts and assist students in reaching academic goals and developmental milestones.
  • Communicate with teachers for the purpose of assisting in implementing classroom objectives.
  • Maintain classroom equipment, work area, and records to ensure item availability, provide written references, provide a safe learning environment, and/or meet mandated requirements.
  • Monitor individual and/or group students in a variety of settings to provide a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Perform general tasks to help the teacher prepare instructional materials.
  • Report observations and incidents relating to specific students to communicate information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
  • Attend meetings and in-service presentations to acquire and convey information relative to job functions.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to Type II state regulations, school policies and procedures, emergency drills, and safeguarding guidelines.
  • Attend professional development meetings and workshops to meet state guidelines.
  • Assist in diaper changing, bottle feeding, snack and lunchtime, playtime, stroller rides, etc.
  • Perform tasks as directed by the lead teacher.
  • Be actively advocating Kehoe-France Northshore’s vision, mission, and promises.
