About The Position

LIFESPAN is hiring experienced, compassionate, creative, hardworking, friendly, and reliable Teacher Assistants to support children with developmental delays and typically developing children from six weeks of age until they start kindergarten in a blended, inclusive environment. As a North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten Program provider, we offer a child-centered literacy focused curriculum to prepare eligible children, 4 and 5 years of age, for success in Kindergarten and beyond. As a Teacher Assistant in an Early Learning Center, you will assist the teacher with implementing activities that will help students reach their individual goals. Requirements

  • Pass criminal record and healthcare registry check
  • Pass driving record check if providing transportation
  • Pass Drug Screen
  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Current First Aid/CPR blended or classroom certification is required.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently (per policy)

Nice To Haves

  • One-year experience in a child care setting or working with special education students preferred
  • Willingness to obtain or have already obtained North Carolina Early Childhood Credentials
  • Commitment to achieve competency in required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the Center Curriculum
  • Develop relationships in the classroom promoting social emotional learning and well-being
  • Assist teacher with implementing goal oriented planned activities
  • Ensure a safe, positive and stimulating learning environment
  • Perform various routine procedures such as positioning, diapering and feeding
  • Support inclusion and integration.
  • Mentor children to help build social skills and relationships.
  • Use electronic health record to document activities and significant events.
  • Submit documentation and payroll data according to scheduled deadlines.
  • Complete initial and ongoing training, and participate in staff development activities.
