About The Position

The Teacher Assistant will support the Child Care Center Director and implement the Teacher's lesson plans. This role is responsible for maintaining daily classroom schedules, supporting children's social, emotional, and intellectual growth, and ensuring their safety and well-being. The Teacher Assistant will utilize various instructional and assessment strategies as directed by the teacher to meet individual student needs, assist with classroom recordkeeping, and report any injuries or accidents. Maintaining confidentiality, assisting with meal delivery, and communicating with parents and staff are also key responsibilities. The role requires adherence to toddler care procedures, a willingness to pursue further education in Early Childhood Development, and other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Certificate in early childhood education and care or willing to obtain with 1 year of employment
  • Certificate in mandatory reporter, first aid and CPR or willing to obtain within the first month of employment
  • Knowledge of child development
  • Patience, flexibility and love for children
  • Strong communication skills
  • Be able to lift children assigned to your care multiple times daily
  • Maintain classroom cleanliness
  • Must pass enhanced background check

Responsibilities

  • Implementing the Teacher's lesson plans and maintaining daily classroom schedules
  • Supporting each child's social, emotional and intellectual growth
  • Ensuring the wellbeing and safety of children at all times
  • Using a variety of instructional and assessment strategies, as directed by the teacher to meet individual student needs
  • Assist with classroom recordkeeping duties as directed by Teacher.
  • Report all injuries/accidents to Center Director that occur during shift.
  • Maintain client, employee, and agency confidentiality.
  • Assist with meal delivery service to children in accordance with Child Care Center standards.
  • Maintaining communication with parents, staff and faculty regarding the progress of students
  • Communicate observations to teacher
  • Interact with children during planned activities for the day
  • Adhere to procedures in toddler care such as potty-training, nap time, etc.
  • Be willing to gain more knowledge, experience, and training in the field of Early Childhood Development by attending tribal, state, and national child care meetings/trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned
