SPPS Teacher Assistant
About The Position
Connections for Kids is seeking a Teacher Assistant BHP/Ed Tech III for their private special education school, Portland Kids Academy. This school serves 10 K-8th grade students with mental health diagnoses including autism, ADHD, conduct disorders, anxiety, and PTSD. The Teacher Assistant will work alongside the lead teacher to implement lesson plans, prepare classroom materials, and assist with class management. This role involves providing instructional support and teaching behavioral management skills to students in a small group setting. The position follows the school day schedule, with time off for school vacations and includes a 6-week summer program. Connections for Kids is a leading mental health agency with 26 years of experience making a difference in the lives of children and families.
Requirements
- Bachelors Degree REQUIRED.
- At least 3 years of postsecondary education, or a combination equivalent to 90 hours of approved study in an educationally-related field.
- Have a valid driver's license with proof of auto insurance.
- Are a positive person with a strong work ethic.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the implementation of lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Assist in the preparation of classroom materials.
- Assist with class management functions.
- Provide instructional support to students.
- Teach behavioral management skills to students.
