About The Position

Special Education Teacher Assistants report directly to the building principal and work under the guidance of certified teachers to support students with diverse learning, emotional, physical, and behavioral needs. The assistant plays a vital role in facilitating daily classroom instruction and ensuring a safe, supportive learning environment. Responsibilities include providing one-on-one and small-group instructional support, assisting with behavioral interventions, and offering physical assistance as needed. The assistant also monitors and documents student progress and behavior, reporting observations to the supervising teacher and administration. Additional duties include supporting classroom management, maintaining a safe and structured environment, assisting with personal hygiene and toileting needs, supporting student mobility, and addressing students’ basic personal care requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience working with students with special needs

Responsibilities
