About The Position

The Teacher Assistant works cooperatively with center staff to support center and classroom operations. The role includes daily bus duty and other duties as needed. The Teacher Assistant carries out assigned responsibilities in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards and program policies and procedures, and assists the classroom teacher while actively participating in classroom operations. The role also assists with assessments, screenings, and data entry as directed, and helps ensure children are never left alone and that an appropriate tone of voice is used with children, families, staff, and the public.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.
• Experience working with young children and low-income families.

Responsibilities

• Carry out assigned duties according to Head Start Performance Standards and program policies and procedures.
• Assist the classroom teacher and actively participate in classroom operations.
• Assist with assessments and screenings as directed.
• Ensure that no child is left alone.
• Use an appropriate tone of voice with children, families, staff, and the public.
• Assist with data entry as directed.
• Perform daily bus duty and other duties as needed.
