About The Position

Horizon Education Centers is seeking a caring and creative Preschool Teacher Assistant to join their team. For over 46 years, Horizon has been dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education, care, and youth development programs for children aged 6 weeks to 14 years. This role involves working with a Lead Teacher to implement daily lesson plans and ensure a high level of interaction with children, contributing to their learning, growth, and exploration during crucial developmental years.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a childcare setting.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and assignments.
  • Prompt and reliable.
  • Genuine love of children.
  • Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs.
  • Ability to pass background checks and physical/medical screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong familiarity with lesson planning and implementation, incorporating all domains of the Ohio Early Learning Content Standards using Creative Curriculum.
  • Willingness to update job knowledge with required training, DCY licensing rules and SUTQ professional development opportunities, and industry trends.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement daily lesson plans with the Lead Teacher.
  • Ensure a high level of interaction with children.
  • Provide care and supervision of children and classroom management in accordance with licensing standards and best practices.
  • Work independently with small groups of children and collaboratively with other staff.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and emotionally supportive environment conducive to learning.
  • Complete and document services provided, including progress reports, attendance, screenings, and assessments.
  • Provide functional classroom support.
  • Assist with meal service as required.
  • Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with personnel and family information.
  • Perform other duties as needed/assigned.
