About The Position

Provide classroom coverage and support to the early learning classrooms at Carroll Children’s Center and Growing Hope Child & Family Development Center. The role of the Floater is to be available on a part time basis to cover for classroom shifts that vary between the hours of 7:00am-5:45pm. The Floater supports the classroom team with implementing a developmentally appropriate classroom that supports Childrens’ language, physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development.

Requirements

  • Standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds or performing other work requiring medium physical exertion, talking and hearing and adequate vision on a regular basis to perform the job requirements. These physical demands are required up to 95% of the time.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 1 year’s experience working with children in a formal or non-formal setting.
  • Preschool/Infant - Toddler Classroom Experience
  • Training in Creative Curriculum
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid food handler’s card
  • Valid First Aid and CPR card
  • Verification of a negative TB test
  • HIV/AIDS Training
  • STARS Training
  • Child Care Basics Training
  • Being cleared by criminal background check and fingerprinting through MERIT.

Nice To Haves

  • ECE Initial Certificate or CDA, preferred, or an approved DCYF Professional Development Plan

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, create and maintain a safe and healthy environment
  • Report needed repairs and maintenance to assigned classroom staff.
  • Provide a safe, developmentally appropriate indoor and outdoor learning environment
  • Apply health standards and care for the children and classroom
  • Under the direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, support with planning & provide curriculum through normal care giving routines
  • Establish a learning environment to build and enhance each child’s self-esteem and positive self-concept
  • Provide activities and opportunities that encourage curiosity, creativity, exploration and problem solving appropriate to the developmental level and learning style of each child
  • Implement positive guidance practices that teach and meet the individual temperaments of each child.
  • Maintain open, friendly and cooperative verbal and written communication with each Childs’ family
  • Under the direction of the assigned Lead Teacher, foster positive guidance, engagement and communication in the classroom
  • Guide and sustain positive interactions between children and adults.
  • Maintain an atmosphere that encourages open communication with children and adults.
  • Provide opportunities and support for children to understand, acquire, and use verbal and non-verbal means of communicating thoughts and feelings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of children, families, and staff
  • Participate in required training requirements according to licensing standards.
  • Participate in scheduled supervision, required meetings and training
  • Participate in Center activities and other duties as requested
