About The Position

Responsible for offering a progression of learning in an approved pathway that includes content standards as well as career awareness. Serves as an active liaison between employers and the classroom to maintain program relevance. Collaborates with the designated district and school program administrator and assumes responsibility for providing skill-based learning to middle school students in a particular field of expertise as set forth in the course curriculum. Responsible for being an active participant in high school advisory committees and supporting students in their career and technical student organization.

Requirements

  • Postsecondary (Concurrent Enrollment) Requirement: Associate's Degree in a related field AND experience in the trades - OR - An alternate portfolio with demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline (certifications, work experience, etc.)
  • CTE Content Knowledge & Coursework: Twenty-four (24) semester hours of related postsecondary coursework verified on an official transcript to include a minimum of three (3) semester hours of content coursework in four (4) of the following areas: Industrial Arts, Electrical or Architecture - OR - Valid and current state or national industry license or certification in the appropriate occupational area (e.g., International Code Council Contractor/Trades Certification,
  • Applicable US military experience

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) years of related teaching or industry experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Engage in any and all professional development/coursework necessary to be fully licensed and certified to instruct pathway programming, including CDE, CTE, and postsecondary requirements.
  • Plan and organize an appropriate instructional program that will serve to guide and encourage students to develop and fulfill their academic potential and workforce readiness.
  • Develop and articulate course pathway curricula that conform to District, Career and Technical Education (CTE).
  • Participate in Career/Technical Student Organizations, department and school meetings, parent meetings and other meetings as directed.
  • Collaborate closely with postsecondary partners to align instructional materials and planning with assessments culminating in industry certifications and high school/college course credit.
  • Implement new teaching methods and educational tools in an ever-changing and strategic environment. Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences and establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Assist in other school programs as assigned or requested.
  • Engage industry and community partners to form and maintain a CTE Advisory Panel as a means of assessing and informing program relevance.
  • Utilize technology and integrate the use of technology to provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities, instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment, observe evaluate, encourage and provide feedback on students' performance and development.
