About The Position

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone is seeking a Teacher Aide for their Warren Street location, working from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This role involves assisting the Head Teacher in creating and implementing age-appropriate lessons, fostering a stimulating environment, encouraging parent involvement, setting individual goals for children, and maintaining classroom cleanliness. The position is part of a large network of health centers dedicated to providing comprehensive care and promoting equity and inclusion.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons.
  • Work with a team to provide a stimulating environment and activities.
  • Encourage parent involvement.
  • Set individual goals and record anecdotal observations for each child.
  • Keep room clean.
  • Help with toileting.
  • Perform other various classroom duties.
  • Readily accepts and responds to supervisory inputs accordingly.
  • Inspects children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival.
  • Inspects outdoor and indoor play areas prior to play.
  • Follows hand washing procedures and policies.
  • Follows diaper changing / potty procedures for children accordingly and as needed.
  • Uses the Germ Box effectively.
  • Uses bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces as required.
  • Notifies parents and director when children are sick or get hurt.
  • Files incident or accident reports accordingly and as needed.
  • Inspects fire exits and extinguishers regularly.
  • Feeds children according to their individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines.
  • Puts infants to sleep according to their individual schedules and takes care of infants upon awakening; every effort to prevent SIDS is made.
  • Good grooming and appropriate attire.
