About The Position

Family Health Centers at NYU Langone is seeking a Teacher Aide for the Warren Street location, working from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. This role involves assisting the Head Teacher in creating a stimulating and developmentally appropriate environment for children. The Teacher Aide will help implement lessons, encourage parent involvement, set individual goals, record observations, maintain classroom cleanliness, assist with toileting, and perform other classroom duties. Responsibilities

  • Assist Head Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate lessons.
  • Work with a team to provide a stimulating environment and activities.
  • Encourage parent involvement.
  • Set individual goals and record anecdotal observations for each child.
  • Keep room clean.
  • Help with toileting.
  • Perform other various classroom duties.
  • Accept and respond to supervisory inputs.
  • Inspect children for signs of illness or injury upon arrival.
  • Inspect outdoor and indoor play areas prior to play.
  • Follow hand washing procedures and policies.
  • Follow diaper changing/potty procedures.
  • Use the Germ Box effectively.
  • Use bleach solutions to clean toys and surfaces.
  • Notify parents and director when children are sick or get hurt.
  • File incident or accident reports.
  • Inspect fire exits and extinguishers regularly.
  • Feed children according to individual needs, family input, and CACFP guidelines.
  • Put infants to sleep according to their individual schedules and take care of infants upon awakening, making efforts to prevent SIDS.
  • Maintain good grooming and appropriate attire.
  • Arrive on time.
