About The Position

The YWCA of Metropolitan St. Louis is seeking a Part-Time Teacher Aide for their Head Start program. The YWCA has been serving the community for over 120 years, providing essential services to women and families. They are the largest provider of Head Start services in Missouri and are accredited by the National Head Start Association. This role involves assisting in planning and implementing learning opportunities to foster children's social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth, while also supporting parents to ensure Head Start Program and Performance Standards are met. The position may require assisting at multiple centers.

Requirements

A working knowledge and understanding of early childhood development and education.
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and include them in their child's learning process.
Knowledge of organizational skills to facilitate meeting designated timelines.
Positive attitude, relationship building and interpersonal skills with students, staff, and families inside the classroom and Center environment.
Ability to lift 40lbs.
A high school diploma/GED.
A minimum of six (6) college credit hours in any field.

Responsibilities

Promote the health, emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of each child.
Implement weekly individualized activity plans.
Plan and execute effective field trips.
Utilize learning time effectively and efficiently.
Implement a daily schedule and transitions that support children's learning.
Conduct daily health checks and ensure the environment is clean, safe, and free of hazards.
Develop and implement developmentally appropriate activities daily.
Develop and implement individualized activities based on the developmental level of each child.
Create learning environments in the classroom and outside that promote experimentation and exploration.
Communicate effectively with parents to promote parental involvement in their child's early learning experience.
Facilitate and assist children in developing positive relationships that support a caring community within the classroom.
Maintain and update records on all children enrolled in the classroom.
Assist with daily observation and recording of children's behavior and skill attainment (in Early Head Start classrooms).
Develop a nurturing bond with each of the infants or toddlers in the group (in Early Head Start classrooms).
Individualize each child's developmental program through collaboration with the child's family and other developmental team members (in Early Head Start classrooms).
