About The Position

Make a difference while building your career in early childhood education! Community Progress Council is looking for caring, dependable individuals who want to grow into a career working with young children. As a Teacher Aide, you’ll gain hands-on classroom experience while working toward your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential—all while being supported by a strong team and getting paid. This isn’t just a job - it’s a career pathway. As a Teacher Aide, you will be enrolled in a structured training program, receive support to complete your CDA within approximately 12-16 months, gain real classroom experience while you learn, and work with a Self-Sufficiency Coach to support your professional goals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Willingness to enroll in and complete CDA credential
  • Ability to follow direction and work as part of a team
  • Background clearances (PA Criminal, Child Abuse, FBI, etc.)
  • Physical exam and TB test
  • Mandated Reporter training within 90 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children (school, childcare, volunteer, or personal experience)
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging classroom for young children.
  • Help with daily classroom routines, activities, and transitions.
  • Support children’s learning through play, exploration, and positive interactions.
  • Supervise children to ensure their safety at all times.
  • Use encouraging, respectful communication with children, families, and team members.
  • Assist with setting up materials and maintaining a clean, organized classroom.
  • Follow health, safety, and classroom procedures.
  • Work closely with a Teacher or Assistant Teacher mentor.
  • Participate in training and coursework to earn your CDA credential.
