About The Position

To assist in any area of the Early Childhood Education program as instructed by program supervisors. This role involves working with staff in the classroom, on the playground, and during field trip supervision during the aftercare programming from 2:15-5:15pm. The aide will assist in maintaining classroom facilities, replenishing materials and supplies, preparing activities, and assisting with craft and culture activities. A key responsibility is ensuring safety and order during bus transportation, including communicating rules, maintaining discipline, and assisting children with boarding and securing safety harnesses. The position also involves enforcing child drop-off procedures, providing childcare during parent meetings, supporting the nutrition program, and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Ability to work well with children and staff required.
  • Must be dependable and willing to participate in additional training.
  • Requires TB and Hep B vaccinations and a physical every three years.
  • First Aid certification required.
  • Food handler’s card required.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to Native American culture required.
  • Must maintain registration in the State of Oregon Central Background Registry.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior childcare experience desired.
  • Native American employees preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains discipline on bus at all times.
  • Assists with boarding children onto and off of the bus, making sure each child is secured in his/her safety harness before departure and remains restrained while in travel.
  • Enforces child drop-off procedures/policies.
  • Assists with any necessary childcare during parent meetings.
  • Provides support to the nutrition program as needed.
  • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisor.
