About The Position

The Teacher - ACE Program will focus on grades 6 to 8 with an emphasis on Science and Spanish. The primary responsibilities of the position is to instruct students to develop skills and ability to excel in all subject areas taught. Contribute to the Catholic education program as a whole and to the growth of students academically and spiritually. The Diocesan Bishop is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the particular Church (“the Diocese”) entrusted to him. In a unique and visible way, he makes Christ's mission present and enduring as the Shepherd of the Christian Community. In order to fulfill his mission, the Diocesan Bishop employs suitable, chosen collaborators, who are clerics, religious, and lay people. He shares with them the apostolic mission and entrusts various responsibilities to them. Each position employed in the Diocese of Corpus Christi helps to extend the ministry of the Diocesan Bishop in particular ways as outlined in the job duties and responsibilities. Therefore, this position is closely connected to and assists the Diocesan Bishop in the performance of his ministry and thereby engages in ministry for the church.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree
  • College course work in Math (24) and Education (12) or Teaching Certificate in those areas.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with diocesan policies and procedures
  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Knowledge of teaching techniques and procedures
  • Ability to instruct at high levels with rigor
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • General Classroom Management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and members of the Permanent Diaconate Community
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion
  • Able to do basic computer skills such as e-mail, and word processing
  • Able to maintain reports for travel
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment screening including criminal history background check, motor vehicle record review (MVR), and drug screening
  • Certification in Safe Environment training provided by the Office for Safe Environment and Child & Family Resources is required
  • Must adhere to all Diocesan policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Continuous growth in the ministry by participating in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed
  • Use of a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs and improve the abilities of students in academic growth
  • Classroom management and instruct students to meet the needs at their levels to view growth
  • Work with other members of school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of all students
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Establish criteria for students’ to be familiar with expectations in the classroom; and model the expectation and praise students who rise above it
  • Keep all information about individual students confidential and promote student growth emotionally and academically
  • Work with peer teacher collaboratively to attain growth and guidance of the program
  • Ensure all student expectations are clearly communicated to students and parents
  • Monitor and support students academic growth
  • Demonstrates a professional attitude as a member of diocesan staff.
  • Maintains confidentiality in matters of assigned department and the diocese
  • Serves as a representative of the diocese displaying courtesy, tact, positivity, and discretion in all interactions with colleagues and community served
  • Carries out commitments made to diocesan colleagues and community served
  • Employs professional ethics in relationships with diocesan colleagues and community served
  • Positively contributes to the overall mission and values of the Diocese of Corpus Christi to promote a positive organizational culture
