About The Position

Provide focused, direct, supplemental instructional services to identified Title I students based on student data analysis and supplemental professional development/coaching for teachers in order to accelerate student learning. Success in this role means providing targeted, supplemental, research-based instruction to identified students with an emphasis on data-based areas of need. Evaluate student progress on a regular basis and modify instructional strategies to accelerate student performance. Demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and skill in the subject area taught. Plan lessons in collaboration with classroom teacher for instructional delivery to support core academic curriculum. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the District. Collaborate on the long and short-range accelerated intervention plans for targeted students. Prepare for classes and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the principal. Present the subject matter according to guidelines established by TEA, Board policies, and administrative regulations. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media, consistent with the needs and capabilities of the student groups involved. Administer discipline and punishment in accordance with Board policies and administrative regulations. Establish and maintain effective classroom management. Test students, record/share grades, and send progress reports to parents. Assess the progress of students on a regular basis. Take all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and professional learning collaborative meetings as appropriate. Make provisions for being available to students and parents for educationally related purposes. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents. Participate in appropriate professional growth activities. Maintain a professional relationship with all colleagues, students, and parents. Assist in the selection of instructional materials. Be responsible for receiving and maintaining textbooks, study materials, teaching supplies, and classroom equipment as provided by the District. Evaluate student performance and modify instructional strategies as needed to accelerate student performance. Meet with parents and staff in collaborative meetings to plan and implement instructional goals, objectives and strategies designed to accelerate student academic achievement. Communicate with parents in an effort to accelerate student academic performance. Demonstrate respect for and adherence to confidentiality laws.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred
  • Valid Texas teacher certificate
  • Ability to work with school and community population
  • Ability to work with students in at-risk situations
  • Ability to analyze academic data and to develop a plan of action designed to accelerate student progress, specifically in reading and mathematics
