About The Position

This role involves providing high-quality instruction to 1st-grade students for the 26-27 school year. The teacher will collaborate with school leadership, colleagues, students, parents, and the board to achieve educational goals. Key responsibilities include creating a positive learning environment, planning and delivering curriculum aligned with state and school standards, and working with special education staff to support students with diverse needs. The position also requires maintaining accurate records, communicating with parents, and engaging in professional development to maintain credentials.

Requirements

  • State teacher licensure/certification with appropriate endorsements.
  • Bachelor’s degree with subject area emphasis and/or coursework and/or experience necessary to be deemed "highly qualified" for the grade/subjects to be taught.
  • Demonstrated commitment to young people’s learning success and achievement.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in a teaching/tutoring capacity through prior experience.
  • Evidence of successful experience in student and parent relations.

Nice To Haves

  • Will consider non-certified applicants with a degree in the subject area to be taught; would be required to complete a plan of action to become "highly qualified" within a prescribed period of time.

Responsibilities

  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, establish reasonable rules, and enforce the academy's student discipline code.
  • Plan a program of study that meets individual student needs and goals, ensuring lessons are aligned with state and school curriculum standards.
  • Develop lesson plans and submit them for review, cooperating with the instructional coach to improve teaching quality.
  • Collaborate with special education staff to implement an inclusive approach for students with special needs, including implementing accommodations and modifications from IEPs.
  • Work with other staff to implement grant-funded programming to accelerate learning for students with various needs.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records, including student records and information, and complete necessary documentation for regulatory compliance.
  • Communicate with parents, encourage their participation in learning experiences, and provide regular updates on student performance.
  • Maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development activities.
  • Inform the school leader of needed instructional resources and serve as an active member of various school teams.
  • May participate in extracurricular activities such as coaching, clubs, or tutoring.
