About The Position

This position involves providing instruction in business office education, such as typing and general business, and offering individual assistance to inmates. The role requires assessing educational needs, developing lesson plans, administering and scoring examinations, maintaining discipline and security, and counseling students on their performance and behavior. Additionally, the position involves attending meetings, preparing records and reports, managing supplies, recommending teaching materials, and participating in professional development. The State of Ohio is a drug-free workplace and prohibits the use of marijuana. This position may be subject to additional restrictions under the State of Ohio Drug-Free Workplace Policy. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements for a Teacher Certificate/License appropriate for career-tech administrative office tech and the assigned grade level. A Teacher 1, 71371, must also possess a baccalaureate degree or less, as per the OEA agreement. Applicants must obtain the required Teacher Certificate or License prior to employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides instruction in business office education (e.g., typing, general business) and individual assistance
  • Assesses educational needs of inmates
  • Develops lesson plans to address those needs to include individual assignments and training
  • Provides instruction and individual assistance
  • Administers, scores and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
  • Maintains discipline and/or security
  • Counsels’ students concerning their performance, behavior and/or personal problems.
  • Attends meetings as required
  • Prepares required records and reports (e.g., enrollment, grades, student progress)
  • Inventories and orders supply and materials needed
  • Researches, selects and recommends new teaching materials.
  • Attends in-service training sessions and workshops for professional development
  • Performs other duties as assigned
