Bigelow Tea is seeking a Tea Room Attendant for the 2nd shift. This role is responsible for various tasks related to tea production, including feeding hoppers, monitoring systems, managing raw materials, and ensuring product quality. Requirements

  • Ability to learn computer-related work requirements.
  • Ability to learn proper operation of forklift and pass required driving examination.
  • Certified to operate power material handling equipment (Fairfield).
  • Ability to lift 50 – 100 lbs. bags (with assistance from lifting equipment).
  • One-year previous experience in shipping, receiving or material handling operations or equivalent.
  • P.C. Skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively relate necessary information to applicable personnel.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all common units of measure and common measuring tools.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several standardized situations.
  • Regularly required to stand for long periods of time; walk; bend; sit; repetitive motion with use of hands and fingers, touch, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.
  • Must be able to lift or move up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to wear P.P.E., a dust mask respirator to protect him/her from excessive tea dust.
  • Must be comfortable wearing various types of safety equipment such as hearing protection, eye protection, coveralls, gloves, etc. as necessary and indicated by R.C. Bigelow’s Safety Rules and those of OSHA.

Responsibilities

  • Feeding appropriate tea to hoppers based on production schedules and shop orders.
  • Monitoring the tea delivery system.
  • Reading and understanding production reports and requisitions.
  • Maintaining acceptable levels of tea in hoppers.
  • Ensuring the proper tea flavor is being used.
  • Referring to shop order packets to maintain required quantities and types of raw materials for production schedules.
  • Monitoring and assuring that dump stations are filled properly and as required.
  • Determining the time frame for refills by visual sight.
  • Identifying and gathering all reclaim to be shredded.
  • Reworking product in the reclaim machine.
  • Monitoring the shredding machine to assure it is running properly.
  • Being alert to possible tea mixture problems.
  • Communicating with production personnel to assure production is running as required.
  • Completing and maintaining daily and weekly reports as required.
  • Returning and accurately documenting materials from each work center at the end of each production run, including tea and raw materials.
  • Performing inventory management, including cycle counting, issuing, and returning raw materials.
  • Understanding and operating the shredding machine according to all machine instructions and quality standards.
  • Draining and cleaning the tea delivery system (hopper).
  • Cleaning and airing out hoppers and lines to the machine after tea is drained.
  • Placing finished goods in proper locations in the finished goods warehouse.
  • Assisting in receiving new shipments of tea.
  • Maintaining housekeeping in the tearoom as instructed.
  • Assisting other areas when time allows.
  • Operating computer-related inventory equipment, both RF and Keyboard.
  • Learning/backing up all tearoom functions.
  • Operating stand-up and sit-down forklifts.
  • Following R.C. Bigelow’s Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) and Food Safety and Quality processes.
  • Complying with R.C. Bigelow Safety and Health Rules.
  • Performing other duties as assigned or needed.
