Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis A Trainee is responsible for completing the majority of vehicle body repairs as listed on the Repair Order under the supervision of a Mentor Metal Technician. The Trainee will be assessed on development of the scheduled curriculum at least every two months, and will complete a “level end” assessment every 6 months to progress through the different stages of the program. They are also expected to complete all assigned I-Car curriculum prior to the end of each level of the program, and be prepared for level end hands-on I-Car training prior to the scheduled class date.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred.
  • Trade/Vocational school graduate preferred.
  • On the job experience preferred.
  • I-CAR Gold Class preferred.
  • Pass screening assessment of Mechanical Aptitude with at least a score of “40”
  • Pass screening assessment of Workplace Productivity Profile with at least a score of “Medium”
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others.
  • Should be able to read and understand a work order.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time in the repair of a vehicle.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Requires clear close vision.
  • Must be able to use hands efficiently in handling vehicle parts.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan
  • Check online I-Car classes assigned weekly, and complete accordingly
  • Be prepared and knowledgeable for upcoming assessments
  • Maintain an organized and clean company provided tool box
  • Protect the interior and exterior non-repair areas from dust, dirt, scratches, primer, overspray, etc.
  • Disassemble and reassemble vehicles
  • Refit new parts such as bumpers, fenders, grills, moldings, and other bolt-on items
  • Assist mentors with all areas of the repair process
  • Complete all repairs in a manner such that the repaired areas are restored to the original manufacturer’s specifications, including door, hood and deck alignments, chassis and frame measurements, and welded on unibody parts.
  • Assist the Mentor Metal Technician in checking all parts for accuracy before starting the repair and notify the parts manager of any incorrect parts or other discrepancies
