About The Position

Our Optical Communications segment has evolved into a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions. This role is within the Optical Communications segment, focusing on the carrier network and enterprise network product groups. This position is responsible for training new and existing manufacturing associates on buffering and jacketing processes. The trainer will ensure consistent and effective training delivery, manage documentation, and support process improvement initiatives. The role requires building strong relationships with associates and leadership, and potentially assisting with experiments or new product development.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to effectively deliver training to various audiences both in the classroom and within the assigned area.
  • Solid knowledge of HCP processes or at least 3 years of training experience.
  • Proven ability to work with other associates, Team Leaders, and Staff to determine training gaps and develop potential solutions.
  • Proficient in knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Must have or be able to build excellent rapport with HCP employees.
  • Satisfactory disciplinary record history (Not currently on Written warning or higher).
  • Excellent communication skills, to include listening, verbal, and written.
  • Strong interpersonal and observational skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with employees with different knowledge, skill levels, and personalities.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness and ability to modify activities and work schedule to accommodate the needs of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all training needs related to the assigned manufacturing process area (Buffering & Jacketing).
  • Collaborate with Team Leaders (TLs) to determine the best fit for assigning new associates to On-the-Job Training (OJT).
  • Ensure that training for various processes is conducted in a timely and efficient manner, including retraining as needed.
  • Work with On-the-Job Trainers (OJTs) to ensure consistent delivery of training.
  • Provide support and intervene when necessary to assist if training is not happening effectively or efficiently.
  • Create and deliver training content using adult learning principles.
  • Provide classroom facilitation to associates (both new and existing).
  • Assist with onboarding by providing guidance to new associates.
  • Certify and re-certify manufacturing associates within their process area.
  • Work with OJTs and TLs to ensure training is on track for timely certification.
  • Serve as Document Controller (ADC) for the assigned area.
  • Conduct process and procedure audits.
  • Create and/or update user documentation as needed.
  • Update the training tracker.
  • Communicate Quality issues and help implement controls to resolve them.
  • Maintain a manning list with certification information for use by Department Heads (DH)/TLs/Production Control (PC) when deciding on assignments.
  • Ensure the Manning List is maintained in a centralized, accessible location.
  • Build relationships with Associates and Leadership in the assigned area.
  • Execute other training-related responsibilities as necessary and required.
  • Fill the role of operator to assist Engineering with experiments if available.
  • Fill the role of operator to assist Technology with the development of new products if available.
  • Attend Morning Market for the assigned area.
  • Meet with TLs on a regular basis for updates and adjustments on training/retraining.
  • Participate in bi-weekly training update meetings.
  • Ensure the Training Tracker report is maintained in a centralized location and updated weekly.
  • Potentially participate in the OTIS Team, ERT Team, or 5S Audit team.
  • Support Operations occasionally by filling in to help if critical issues arise that negatively impact the business (requires approval of Workforce Development Leader and cannot impact normal responsibilities).
