About The Position

Mandelbaum Barrett PC is seeking an experienced Tax, Trusts & Estates Attorney to join its growing Tax, Trusts & Estates Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have significant experience advising high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, and business owners on complex trust, estate, and tax planning matters, as well as trust and estate administration. This attorney will play a key role in supporting existing client relationships, handling matters across Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, and helping meet the growing demand for sophisticated trusts and estates services throughout the Firm. Candidates may be based in Connecticut, New York, or New Jersey and must be able to effectively collaborate with attorneys and clients across offices.

Requirements

J.D. from an accredited law school; LLM in Taxation preferred.
10+ years of experience in tax, trusts & estates law, with substantial trusts and estates experience required.
Candidates must be admitted in Connecticut, New York, or New Jersey and be willing to obtain admission in additional jurisdictions, including Connecticut, New York, and New Jersey, as needed to support client matters.
Strong knowledge of estate, gift, fiduciary, and income tax planning.
Experience representing high-net-worth individuals, families, fiduciaries, and closely held businesses.
Excellent drafting, analytical, and client relationship skills.

LLM in Taxation preferred.

Responsibilities

Advise clients on sophisticated estate planning strategies, including trusts, wills, business succession planning, asset protection, and wealth transfer planning.
Handle complex trust and estate administration matters.
Counsel clients regarding federal and state estate, gift, income, and fiduciary tax issues.
Work closely with attorneys throughout the firm on tax, trust, and estate planning aspects of client matters.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships while providing exceptional client service.
Assist with the increasing volume of tax, trust, and multi-state estate planning matters generated through the firm's continued growth.
Mentor junior attorneys and support the development of the practice.
